Liberia Nears US$1 Billion in Domestic Revenue Collection

Ngafuan made the statement Friday during an appearance on the Liberia Broadcasting System.

MONROVIA — Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan says Liberia is approaching the US$1 billion mark in domestic revenue collection.

Ngafuan made the statement Friday during an appearance on the Liberia Broadcasting System.

The minister attributed the increase to improved collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and the Liberia Revenue Authority.

He said the government expects to cross the US$1 billion threshold within days.

The latest publicly reported figure from the Liberia Revenue Authority placed domestic revenue collection below the US$1 billion mark.

The government has set a larger domestic revenue target for the year as it seeks to increase resources available to finance national programs and reduce dependence on external funding.

Officials have not yet announced that the US$1 billion threshold has been officially reached.
