Liberia Presents Climate Agenda and Natural Capital Atlas at COP30

Liberia used COP30 to present its NDC 3.0 and Natural Capital Atlas, outlining climate goals, green-investment opportunities and a call for fair climate finance.

Liberia has presented its updated climate agenda on the COP30 stage, launching its Third Nationally Determined Contribution and a Natural Capital Atlas designed to guide climate planning and green investment.

The NDC 3.0 commits Liberia to reducing national greenhouse-gas emissions by 64 percent by 2035. Officials said 10 percent of that target would be financed domestically, while 54 percent depends on international support.

Key priorities include renewable energy, clean cooking, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable forest and coastal management, and nature-based approaches that can link conservation with economic opportunity.

The Natural Capital Atlas maps Liberia’s forests, rivers, wetlands, mangroves, minerals and biodiversity hotspots. Officials say the tool can support policy design, investment planning, sustainable tourism and resource management.
