Women Aspirants Train Early for Liberia’s 2029 Elections

Forty-one women aspirants from Montserrado, Margibi and Grand Bassa counties joined leadership and candidate-preparedness training as Liberia looks toward 2029 elections.

MONROVIA — Forty-one women aspirants from Montserrado, Margibi and Grand Bassa counties have taken part in political leadership and candidate-preparedness training as Liberia looks ahead to the 2029 elections.

The training is part of a nationwide effort planned to reach about 240 women aspirants across all 15 counties. Organizers say the goal is to build a stronger pipeline of women leaders before the next campaign season begins.

Participants worked on leadership, constituency analysis, political messaging, fundraising, campaign planning, public speaking, budgeting and preventing violence against women in elections and politics.

The programme responds to persistent barriers to women’s political participation, including financing challenges, intimidation, limited visibility and restricted access to political networks. Women currently hold 11 of Liberia’s 103 seats in the National Legislature.
